Karmeliet is a tripel beer that is still brewed according to an authentic beer recipe from 1679, originating in the former Carmelite monastery in Dendermonde. The recipe uses 3 kinds of grain: oats, barley and wheat. The beer has a complex golden color and a creamy head. Its aroma is spicy and fruity, and its sweet flavor evolves into a mildly bitter aftertaste. Karmeliet has an alcohol content of 8.4%.
